Why, "Life on the Border"? It sort of describes the state of life in which I exist.
- Presently, I live in Chicago, one block to the south is the suburb of Oak Park, one mile west is Elmwood Park. I live on the border of the city and the suburb. I have actually lived my whole life in suburbs that have bordered the city.
- Next month, I will turn 36. I am on the border of being young and middle aged. Although I must admit as I grow older the lines between young, middle age, and old, grow blurry.
- I am part of the middle class, somewhere between poor and wealthy.
- I was born in the last year of the baby boom. I seem to have little in common with those born earlier in the baby boom years (I remember the sixties, but I remember them through a child's eyes.) I also have little in common with Generation X . So, I seem to be in between generations.
- Childbearing is done, and menopause is still quite a few years away.
- My job involves some technical knowlege, but I do not consider myself a technical person.
I simply live "On the Border"
(there's a lot of us out there.)The purpose of the web site (most authors are not so blunt, but why should I leave you guessing) is just a place for me to expose my thoughts from "the border". In a way, I always wanted to be a columnist. My mother's generation had Erma Bombeck. I grew up reading Anna Quindlen. Even today, I enjoy reading columnists. So, while it is unlikely that I will be writing a column for a paper, I can just amuse myself (and maybe some others), by putting my column in front of everyone.
